Cruzeiro suffered a new punishment from FIFA. The club is now prohibited from registering new players. This new sanction is a consequence of the action imposed by Zorya, from Ukraine, for the purchase of forward Willian, in 2014. The information was initially disclosed by Radio Itatiaia.

A debt settlement agreement, around 1 million euros, was announced by Cruzeiro in August. However, this arrangement was not approved by FIFA.
In a statement, Cruzeiro contested the new punishment. The board produced documents that it claims prove that an agreement was reached with Zorya for the settlement of the debt. The documents are available in the official club note. Click and check.
“It is regrettable and contested by Cruzeiro Esporte Clube, since the agreement signed between the parties was made through the official channels that FIFA provided for that.”
Cruzeiro explained in the note how the agreement with Zorya was made and reported that he sent a formal statement to FIFA on September 1. In it, the club demands that the new sanction imposed be reconsidered.
According to Cruzeiro, the payment was made to Alik Football Management from Estonia, who had credit with Zorya. However, the Ukrainian club sent a letter to FIFA stating that it did not reach any agreement with the mining club and consequently did not sign the document.
Cruzeiro responded, indicating Zorya’s emails present in FIFA’s systems. In one of them, with attached letter and stamp from the Ukrainian club, the mining team says that Zorya reported that the assets related to the Willian process were transferred to Alik Football Management, from Estonia, to which Cruzeiro should transfer the credits.
On August 21, the Belo Horizonte club was informed of the sanction that would prohibit new player registrations. The agreement was sent to FIFA. On the 26th, Zorya reported that he had never signed such a document and that the signature of the club’s representative, Oganov, was false.
“On the eve of the maturity of the debt, FC Zorya notified Cruzeiro, through his official email, registered with Fifa / TMS, informing that he had made a specific assignment of credit to Alik Football Management, from Estonia. In this way, Cruzeiro negotiated the payment of the debt directly with Alik, but, to protect himself, he demanded that FC Zorya be part of the agreement as an interested third party, and informed that he would make the payment only after its approval by FIFA. – says the official note from Cruzeiro.
In mid-May, the Cruzeiro had already suffered a severe FIFA sanction. The club was ordered to start Series B of the Brazilian Championship with six points less, due to non-compliance with the payment order related to the debt with Al Wahda, for the six-month loan of midfielder Denilson.
Cruzeiro Esporte Clube confirms that it received a contact from FIFA stating that FC Zorya disputes an agreement signed between the clubs, officially announced last month, which involves the debt of 1,159,786.31 euros, due on August 20, 2020 .
Faced with FC Zorya’s challenge, FIFA applied the sanction of banning transfers (impossibility of registering new players), which is regrettable and questioned by Cruzeiro Esporte Clube, since the agreement between the parties was made through the official channels provided by FIFA for that.
On the eve of the due date of the debt, FC Zorya notified Cruzeiro, through his official email, registered with Fifa / TMS, indicating that he had made a specific credit allocation to Alik Football Management of Estonia. In this way, Cruzeiro negotiated the payment of the debt directly with Alik, but, to protect himself, he demanded that FC Zorya be part of the agreement as an interested third party, and informed that he would make the payment only after its approval by FIFA.
In the process, in addition to the authentication stamp and signature of the FC Zorya representative on all documents, in which he accredits, firstly, the assignment of the credit to Alik, and, secondly, the formalization of the contract. It is important to point out that communication between all those involved has always been carried out through the official channels established by the Fifa / TMS system, which is extremely strict with access, registration and processes of their emails.
Therefore, in the face of the FC Zorya demonstration, Cruzeiro’s challenge is based on two variables: either the FIFA system presented some kind of failure, which is unlikely, or the Ukrainian club is contradicting the documents that its own representative valid. and signed, these documents are available attached to this note.
Therefore, on the night of September 1, 2020, Cruzeiro sent a formal statement to FIFA, clarifying what happened and demanding a reconsideration of the sanction imposed for the moment. The Club reiterates that at all times and during the proceedings it acted with absolute clarity, good faith and within the law, trusting that the communication made through the official FIFA channels, with all those involved in the copy, including the FC lawyer Zorya, be valid. “
