The Federal Government announces a new minimum wage in 2021; check out

The value of the new minimum wage for 2021 was stipulated by the Federal Government in next year’s budget project, sent to Congress last Monday (31). According to the proposal, the minimum will be R $ 1,067, which represents an increase of R $ 22 in relation to the current minimum wage, of R $ 1,045.

Although the 2021 Budget Guidelines Bill (LDO), sent in April, set the minimum wage at R $ 1,075 for next year, the fall in inflation due to the slowdown in economic activity caused the government to reduce the readjustment , said the Ministry of Economy – in April, the portfolio estimated that the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) would close 2020 at 3.19%; in the draft Budget, the estimate was revised to 2.09%.

Since 2019, the minimum wage adjustment rule that established the correction of the INPC of the previous year plus the two-year variation of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP, sum of goods and services produced) is no longer valid. Now, the minimum wage is only corrected by the INPC, considering the constitutional principle of preserving the minimum purchasing power.

It is worth mentioning that the value of the minimum wage for 2021 can still be revised in the Federal Budget proposal, depending on the evolution of the economic parameters.
