Brazil starts September with more than a thousand dead in one day

After five days of counting less than a thousand new deaths on the balance sheet, Brazil opened September, again exceeding the threshold. 1,215 more deaths were added, reaching a total of 122,596 deaths from the disease since the virus began in the country. The number of infected also surpassed the 40,000 mark: 42,659. With that, the country approaches the accumulated 4 million positives. There are 3,950,931 cases registered as of this Tuesday (1/9).

There are currently 22 federative units with the confirmation of more than a thousand deaths each. The one who leads the negative ranking is São Paulo, with 30,375 deaths from the new coronavirus, accumulating more than a quarter of Brazilian deaths. Rio de Janeiro is the second with the most fatalities, with 16,217 victims of the covid. The two are the only states that have more than 10,000 deaths.

They are followed by: Ceará (8,447), Pernambuco (7,614), Pará (6,176), Bahía (5,448), Minas Gerais (5,364), Amazonas (3,661), Rio Grande do Sul (3,501), Maranhão (3,457), Paraná (3,345) ), Goiás (3,212), Espírito Santo (3,181), Mato Grosso (2,786), Federal District (2,573), Paraíba (2,465), Santa Catarina (2,301), Rio Grande do Norte (2,265), Alagoas (1,895), Sergipe (1,867), Piauí (1,843) and Rondônia (1,155).

At the bottom of the table are: Mato Grosso do Sul (889), Tocantins (687), Amapá (663), Acre (616), Roraima (593).
