The Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, informed the allies on Monday night (31) that the emergency aid will be extended in another four installments of R $ 300.
The value was defined in a meeting during the afternoon, held at the Planalto Palace, between the minister and President Jair Bolsonaro.
The expectation is that the extension of the benefit will be announced this Tuesday (1st), after the president’s meeting with the party leaders.
To change the value, today at R $ 600, Bolsonaro will send a provisional measure to Congress.
The extension of emergency assistance paid during the coronavirus pandemic will give the economic team time to find solutions for the expansion of Bolsa Família, renamed Renda Brasil.
The emergency aid was initially designed by the Ministry of Economy to last three months, with fees of R $ 200.
Estimates made in March by the portfolio indicated that the benefit would reach up to 20 million beneficiaries, with a total cost of R $ 15 billion to the public coffers.
The program has taken shape over time. First, after pressure from parliamentarians on the government, Congress approved the payment of three installments of R $ 600.
Then, the government decided to extend the aid for another two months in the amount of R $ 600, a term that is now ending.
For the new fees, Guedes even defended an amount of R $ 270. But Bolsonaro insisted on R $ 300, which ended up being accepted by the economic team.
