The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, one of the biggest music awards, today chose the best international artists in several categories. After many uncertainties, the event took place live and outdoors, in New York (USA), with concerts in various regions of the city and also in Los Angeles.

This was the first live grand prize since the coronavirus pandemic began.

In addition to being honored with MTV’s first TRICON Award, Lady Gaga also received four other awards, one in the “Artist of the Year” category. Upon receiving the trophy, the muse declared. “Everyone always knew, if they were going to go out with me, that I had the mission of spreading joy over culture, dance and music.”

The Weeknd, who started the VMAs with a pharaonic show, surpassed Lady Gaga and took the first prize of the night, in the Clip of the Year category, for “Blinding Lights.” (See full list below)

In this edition, two categories were created to recognize the work of the artists and producers who continued to produce during the pandemic: Best Performance in Quarantine and Best Home Video.

Triumphant performance

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande performed triumphantly during the 2020 VMAs, driving fans crazy on social media. Always wearing extravagant looks, the two muses together presented the hit “Rain on Me”, winner in the Music of the Year, Best Collaboration and Best Photography categories.

Gaga was also honored with MTV’s first TRICON award. “I never imagined that I could win an award like this, that it would honor me for all that I am. I hope that the people who are at home, who also have dreams, know that you can do this too. I know that a new time is appearing and I know pop culture will inspire you all. Art will empower you all! “she said in surprise.

Ariana Grande also won four awards at “VMA 2020”, one for partnering with Justin Bieber, “Stuck with U”., in the category Best homemade clip.
