A brutal crime shook Canelinha after the discovery that 24-year-old Flavia Godinho Mafra, who was nine months pregnant, had been killed with bricks and her daughter was pulled out of the womb with a pencil. The police discovered the crime on Friday the 28th.

The defendant told police that she planned the crime two months ago. She reportedly got pregnant in October last year and lost her baby in January this year.

A relative, who declined to be named, said that at no time did relatives suspect that the pregnancy of the woman responsible for the crime was false.

“He was a normal person, he worked well, he was like any other person. I don’t know what went into his head to do that, ”he says in shock.

According to the relative, the two spoke little nowadays, they used to exchange messages through social networks, but nothing constant. However, they lived together throughout childhood.

At no time did the woman notice any strange behavior or attitude on the part of the accused. “We used to play house like all children. I never, never, never suspected anything ”, he declares.

The whole family believed that the woman was pregnant, precisely because of the publications that the accused of the crime published on social networks. “She was very thin and then she got fat, she got chubby, like a normal pregnant woman,” she says.

According to the relative, the woman worked on a knitted garment, but was absent during the pandemic because she was pregnant, which is a risk group.

The last time he had contact with the defendant was two months ago. However, his contact was distant and punctual. “It was like, ‘Hi, how’s the pregnancy?’ and ‘when will you be born?’ It was a quick thing. “

She says the whole family is shocked and no one can believe it. “It seems like a lie. If he had not confessed, no one would believe that he reached that point and he did, ”he says.

The woman also states that despite being shocked, the whole family hopes that justice will be served. “What we want is what everyone wants. We want justice and for her to pay for what she did ”.

Pregnancy partners

A friend of Flavia, who did not want to be identified, says that the defendant in the murder was a colleague of Flavia and that she began looking for him during her pregnancy. She frequented the store where Flavia worked, ordering embroidery for her supposed daughter, Antonella.

Another friend, who also knows the accused and chose not to identify herself, says he had a profile that she considered strange. “People said he had strange behavior, they said things that were not true. She had already announced a pregnancy once. Again she said she had cancer. Still, I never thought she would do that. “

According to her, the accused was already “chubby”, which made it difficult to identify a false pregnancy. Flavia’s friend exchanged messages with the accused and these audios were sent to the police. She also reveals that she witnessed a conversation between the accused and the victim. “I saw they were talking, something about the pregnancy. It was already during the pandemic, so I didn’t see Flavia that often anymore ”.

Regarding the baby shower, according to her friend, what the defendant did was promote the false event and invite both Flavia and several other friends of the pregnant woman. However, she canceled with all the guests except Flavia. “She spoke to me and kept me going. She made me believe the child was her. She even said they could be twins, ”she reveals.

Both affirm that at no time did they suspect that the woman was not pregnant.

Pregnancy on social media

In his social networks he published photos of an essay in which he appears pregnant and next to whom he seems to be the girl’s father, in July of this year, six months after he lost the baby. In the photo, the man next to him wears a T-shirt with photos that look like they were taken from an ultrasound scan with the phrase “Dad loves Antonella.”

On August 9, he posted a video of a raffle he would have held to collect diapers. “First of all, I would like to warmly thank everyone for purchasing Antonella’s raffle ticket. It was a success, we won a lot of diapers, a lot of pampering together (sic), I wanted to thank everyone with all my heart “, says the post. Six days earlier, he posted a photo aimed at “pregnant women who would have a baby this month.”

During the year other posts were made talking about her supposed pregnancy. She even posted a picture of a pregnancy monitoring app, stating that the baby would be 31 weeks old, on July 19. The image also said that the child was to be born on August 20.
