Responsible for the boat “Louise Michel” reported on Saturday night (29) that the approximately 200 migrants on the ship were transferred to another ship, Sea Watch 4, in the Mediterranean. The activists, financed by the British street artist Banksy, are demanding that these asylum seekers be welcomed into a European country.

During the afternoon, the Italian Coast Guard rescued 49 people in a fragile situation. However, another 170 migrants were still on board before being transferred to Sea Watch 4. In addition, there were 33 people waiting to be rescued in a lifeboat. It is unclear if they have also gained access to the ship.

With the transfer, Sea Watch 4 now has approximately 350 people on board, according to “Louise Michel’s” crew.

“But it is not over: we want a safe place for all survivors now,” they said.

According to the British newspaper “The Guardian”, the water was entering the other ship, which was in the Malta rescue zone. Several passengers are injured. One person died.

Despite acknowledging the rescue, the crew criticized the lack of European aid. They claim to have made several attempts to contact maritime rescue authorities in Malta and the Italian island of Lampedusa, in addition to one in Germany.

“The Italian Coast Guard has rescued 49 of the most vulnerable survivors! This is great, and it leaves us with most of us still waiting,” they said.

Last year, one of the SeaWatch ships was adrift off the coast of Italy for more than two weeks with dozens of Libyan refugees on board, until the captain decided to forcibly dock the ship on Italian soil.

On Thursday (27), the crew announced, on Twitter, the rescue of 89 migrants from Libya who were in the Mediterranean Sea. The next day, they rescued another 130 people, including women and children.

Including the crew, the number of people on the ship reached 229 people. The maximum capacity is 120.

Before the rescue by the Italian Coast Guard this Saturday, the crew wrote on Twitter that I could no longer move the ship because of the overcrowding and the boat next door. The crew said Europe ignored calls for help.

“The responsible authorities remain unanswered,” they said early Saturday.

Even before the rescue, the crew recounted the difficulties on board.

“The crew managed to keep #LouiseMichel stable for almost 12 hours. Our new friends told us that they already lost 3 friends on their trip. Including the corpse in our only lifeboat, this causes 4 lives to disappear due to Fortress Europe .. And we are still waiting, “they said.

The ship’s first rescue mission was in mid-August.
