The favorites to the top positions, Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) and Max Verstappen (RBR) were in fifth and sixth place. In the last series of laps started, the Finn made a mistake in the first corner, while the Dutchman got traffic. The top ten fastest, from seventh to tenth, were completed by Daniel Ricciardo (Renault), Lance Stroll (Racing Point), Carlos Sainz Jr. (McLaren) and Sergio Pérez (Racing Point).

The training was marked by the shame of the Ferrari engines. The six drivers with the Italian manufacturer’s power units placed in the last seven places. Sebastian Vettel was an annoying last place.

However, the rain did not really fall, and after waiting in the pits for a while, the drivers decided to finally hit the track after 20 minutes of training. There is the possibility of heavy rain at the time of qualifying, which could mess up the grid.

Still in the first half hour of training, Bottas was the first to fall from home at 1m44 by scoring 1m43s813. Hamilton initially set the second fastest time, with 1m44s422. But then Verstappen came along and he was just 0s083 from Bottas. Hamilton improved but remained in third place, 0s138 behind the Finn.

In the final part of training, the drivers came out for the last attempts, and of the favorites, Hamilton was the only one who improved and had the best time of the weekend, while Bottas and Verstappen could not lower their times. Despite this, all three remain favorites for the pole position fight.

Ferrari continued its terrible weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. As happened on Friday, Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel could not fight for the top ten. In the end, the Monegasque was in 17th place, while Vettel finished in 20th and last place.
