The former superintendent of the Federal Police in Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Saadi, said in a statement that he does not know the reasons that led to his resignation in August 2019.

Saadi was heard this Monday (11), by the Federal Police, in Brasilia, in the investigation investigating the complaints of former Minister Sergio Moro that President Jair Bolsonaro tries to interfere politically in the FP.

At the time of the resignation, Bolsonaro said the exchange had been for “productivity” reasons. In resigning from the government last month, Moro said Bolsonaro pressured him to remove Saad from the Rio superintendency.

In the testimony, Saad reported that in early 2019, the then FP general director, Maurício Valeixo (fired by Bolsonaro last month) informed him that he would be replaced by delegate Carlos Henrique, then executive regional delegate of the FP superintendency in River .

Saadi also said the move was scheduled for the end of 2019, but was anticipated for August.

“That on August 15, 2019, early in the morning, the declarant received a call from the delegate Maurício Valeixo, then Director General of the Federal Police, declaring that he had decided to advance the exchange plans of the Superintendency of Rio de Janeiro, and wanted to remove it. Declarer to Brasilia, without revealing any possible reason for that, “Saad continued in the statement.

Saadi was then asked if he knew why he was fired.

“Whoever, specifically asked about the reasons for his dismissal, claims not to be aware of them,” Saadi replied.

He also stated that, during his period as head of the FP superintendence in Rio, he never received, directly or indirectly, requests for “intelligence reports” from President Jair Bolsonaro or former Minister Sergio Moro.

Another statement this Monday was that of the PF delegate and director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin), Alexandre Ramagem. He was chosen by Bolsonaro to replace Valeixo in the general direction of PF, but his appointment was banned by Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). Moraes stated that the nomination has a deviation in purpose and noted that Ramage is a friend of the President and his children.

In his testimony before the PF, Ramage said he feels “appreciation” for the family of President Jair Bolsonaro, but denied having “privacy”.
