Brazil registered 496 deaths due to new coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to an update by Ministry of Health this Sunday, 10. With that, the official total of victims of the covid-19 in the country increased from 10,627 to 11,123. The number of confirmed cases of the disease increased from 155,939 to 162,699, with 6,760 new records
The balance of this Sunday interrupts a sequence of five days with records of more than 600 deaths. However, technicians from the Ministry of Health have already stated that records drop during weekends and holidays, when notification services for infected and victims do not work in some parts of the country. The registered record in 24 hours is 751 victims, on Friday Friday, 8. São Paulo remains the state most affected by the disease, with 3,709 deaths and 45,444 confirmed cases. Then comes Rio de Janeiro (1,714 deaths, 17,062 cases), Ceará (1,114, 16,692 cases), Pernambuco (1,047 deaths, 13,275 cases) and Amazonas (1,004 deaths, 12,599 cases).
According to the Ministry of Health, the number of deaths recorded in the last 24 hours does not indicate how many people died between one day and the next, but the number of deaths that had the confirmed cause of the coronavirus in that interval. That is, this number may contain deaths that occurred previously, but were only recently diagnosed as a result of the new coronavirus and were recorded in official statistics. Still, the official number of records continues to rise.
The country is already among the nations with the highest number of deaths from the disease, behind the United States (79,384), the new global epicenter of covid-19, the United Kingdom (31,930), Italy (30,560), Spain ( 26,621) and France (26,313), according to a ranking based on data compiled by John Hopkins University in the United States.
