A surfer had a big scare last Friday. Frenchman Dylan Nacass, 23, survived a shark attack while surfing in the Australian Bells Beach region. In a video that circulates on social networks, you can see the animal swimming near two surfers who paddled on their boards.
“I hit him and he stood up. I hit him again and he was gone,” the young man, who suffered only a few scratches, told 9News.
Matt Sedunary, an area resident, explained that he ran into the water to help the surfer when he saw he was in trouble. “He started screaming. Honestly, I thought he was playing with his friends,” he said. “But I couldn’t leave him alone, anyone would have done the same,” he added.
Australia is one of the countries with the most shark attacks worldwide, with 27 in the past year, according to the Taronga (Sydney) Zoo. In the first months of 2020, two deaths have already been recorded.
