This Saturday (9), Amazonas registered a new registry of Covid-19 cases registered in a single day. Another 1,198 confirmed cases were recorded, and the total number of those infected with the new coronavirus increased to 11,925, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Health Surveillance Foundation (FVS-AM). The bulletin also indicates that, in the last 24 hours, there were 88 more deaths from the disease. Now, there are already 962 people who died with the disease in the state.

For the second time since the start of the pandemic, Amazonas recorded more than 1,000 new cases in a single day. The previous record was set just three days ago, on Wednesday (6). The large number of infected people filled state hospitals, which operate with almost 90% of beds occupied.

The updated bulletin shows that, with 88 more confirmations, the number of people infected and who did not resist the disease reaches 962. The vast majority are from the capital of Amazonas, which registered 660 deaths. The number of deaths in Manaus has skyrocketed since the start of the new coronavirus pandemic until April 25 and is 108% above the historical average.

Another 302 people from the interior of Amazonas also died with Covid-19, in 37 different municipalities. The rate of contagion in the field worries specialists, since almost 90% of the state’s cities have already presented cases of the disease.

According to the FVS, 4,030 people diagnosed with Covid-19 are in social isolation or at home. Another 6,504 people have already gone through the 14-day quarantine period and have recovered from the disease.

Of the total number of infected, there are 430 hospitalized patients, 266 of whom are in clinical beds (65 in the private network and 201 in the public network) and 164 in the ICU (65 in the private network and 99 in the public network) .

There are still another 887 hospitalized patients considered suspicious and awaiting confirmation of the diagnosis. Of these, 661 are in clinical beds (194 in the private network and 467 in the public network) and 226 in the ICU (81 in the private network and 145 in the public network).

More than 50 cities in the morning with infected

Of the 11,925 confirmed cases in Amazonas as of this Saturday (9), 6,743 are from Manaus (56.55%) and 5,182 from the interior of the state (43.45%). In the capital, the use of masks becomes mandatory, starting this Monday (11), in essential stores and public transport to prevent their spread.

In the interior, Manacapuru shoots with the highest number of cases: there are 890. The city also leads the incidence and mortality rate of Covid-19 in Brazil. Three other cities already register more than 300 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus: Parintins (377); Tefé (337); Tabatinga (302).

Another 50 cities also register people infected with Covid-19: Santo Antônio do Içá (245); Iranduba (236); Coari (227); Río Preto da Eva (211); Itacoatiara (204); Brown Careiro (190); Maues (178); São Paulo de Olivença (159); President Figueiredo (154); Autazes (152); Carauari (121); Boca do Acre (97); Amaturá (87); Anori (87); Tonantines (80); São Gabriel da Cachoeira (79); Tapauá (75); Benjamin Constant (66); Urucará (56); Silves (49); Manaquiri (35); Nova Olinda do Norte (34); Beruri (33); Maraã (33); Barreirinha (32); Fonte Boa (29); Novo Airão (29); Careiro da Várzea (25); Novo Aripuanã (25); Barcelos (24); Borba (22); Labrea (22); Urucurituba (20); Canutama (19); Itapiranga (19); Jutaí (18); and Eirunepé (13).

The municipality of Boa Vista do Ramos and Manicoré have 11 cases each. Caapiranga has ten cases. Apuí, Nhamundá and São Sebastião do Uatumã each have nine cases. Anamã has eight cases. Codajás and Santa Isabel do Rio Negro each have seven cases. Humaitá has six cases. Alvarães has two cases. The municipalities with a single confirmed case are: Atalaia do Norte and Juruá.
