The Spanish court denied the defense remedy aimed at unifying the sentence of the Brazilian François Patrick Nogueira Gouveia, responsible for the murder of his uncle, his uncle’s wife and two cousins in the city of Pioz, in Spain. The crimes took place in August 2016.
The Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Spain upheld the previously stipulated sentence. Patrick was sentenced to life in prison three times for the death of his cousins and Marcos, his uncle. For the murder of Janaína, his uncle’s wife, the punishment is 25 years in prison.
Remember the case
Patrick Nogueira Gouveia confessed to stabbing his uncles and two cousins, ages 1 and 4. Before committing the crime in 2016, he dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player since he was a child and pursued this goal. The accused played in João Pessoa, Paraíba, but decided on impulse that he wanted to try his luck in Europe.
In a hurry, without telling her parents, she bought the plane tickets to London and eventually told her mother about the trip. Desperate, she asked someone for help that her son could hear. Walfran Campos, uncle of Patrick, a former soccer player named former professional colleagues. The boy tested in England, but was rejected.
Then they took him to the house of his uncle, Marcos, who lived in Spain, who got him a job at the restaurant where he worked. However, the young man’s behavior began to change. He created anger with his brother and his family to the point of killing them.
On August 17, 2016, Patrick discovered the new address in Pioz and appeared by surprise at his uncles’ new home at 5 p.m. with two pizzas. Janaina opened the door alone with the children and, in front of them, took Patrick’s first stab. He also killed cousin Maria Carolina, 4, and cousin Davi, 1.
According to the investigation, Patrick Nogueira Gouveia had time to dismember the bodies, store them in garbage bags and wait for his uncle to arrive at the chalet to end the killing. Meanwhile, while committing the crime, he chatted through WhatsApp with a friend who was in Brazil.
A month later, the crime scene was discovered by a maintenance worker who warned of the smell coming from a house in Pioz. On September 20, 2016, Patrick fled to Rio de Janeiro; he remained in Brazil until October 19 of the same year, when he returned to Spain to confess the authorship of the murders.
