Nokia cell phones will be sold in Brazil from Sunday (3). The 2.3 model arrives in the country marketed by HMD Global Oy, representative of the brand’s smartphones since 2016.

Nokia 2.3 is an entry-level device, but still with good specs and prices below recent releases. It arrives in Brazil for R $ 899 and begins to be sold in HMD partner retailers in the country.

The device also has the possibility of updating to the new Android 10, released in 2019. The version of the operating system on the device is Android One, a model made in association with Google that guarantees more update time and less customization by manufacturers. . Until then, only Motorola had released Android One devices in Brazil.

“The product will come with Android 9, but it will be updated to Android 10 and also to the version that comes later. The device will improve more and more and nobody in the competition will have so many updates to the operating system in this price range, ”said Juan Olano, HMD Global portfolio manager for the Americas.

In addition to the operating system, the model also comes with the promise of a battery that lasts up to two days, including artificial intelligence power management, which promises to interpret user needs.

The camera also promises smart features, improving image processing. Portrait mode, which blurs the background and gives images a more professional look, is available thanks to the dual rear camera.

Nokia 2.3 is available in green, gold and gray.

Choosing the model for Brazil

According to Junior Favaro, director of sales and marketing for HMD Global for Brazil, the choice of 2.3 is because this price range represents a market of 22 million devices in Brazil and which grew by 32% last year. “We believe that the strategy is interesting to bring the first product in this price range,” he explains.

According to executives, the company should expand the portfolio in the future and bring other Nokia models to Brazil.
