Paraguay again recorded an increase in new daily cases of new coronaviruses, after successive falls. And, according to the Paraguayan Ministry of Health, 87.5% of the diagnoses recorded in the last two daily balances are from people who were in Brazil.
According to the balance of this Saturday (2), Paraguay registered 37 new cases of Covid-19. Of these 28 patients came from Brazil, and are in mandatory quarantine determined by the Paraguayan government. The previous day, of the 67 new registrations, 63 were from people who were in Brazilian territory.

According to the newspaper “ABC Color”, the majority of cases are Paraguayans who were already in quarantine on their return from Brazil. Paraguay’s borders have been closed since March 24 and only citizens of the country are accepted on a return trip.
The Friday and Saturday numbers indicate the resumption of new cases of coronavirus in Paraguay; On other days of the week, the new daily Covid-19 records were no more than 10. On Sunday, inclusive, the neighboring country did not record any diagnosis of disease. (see box below).

According to a report by RPC, affiliated with Balloon TV in Paraná, the numbers are related to Paraguayans who had tried to enter Paraguay from Brazil through the Friendship Bridge in Foz de Iguazú.
When these Paraguayans were able to return to their country of origin, they were quarantined in a shelter. At least 2,500 Paraguayans who were in Brazil managed to return to Paraguay. See more in the VIDEO below.

The new wave of cases comes at a time when Paraguay celebrated the release of all patients in intensive care by Covid-19. In addition, the country will begin on Monday what it calls “smart quarantine”: a gradual return to work and leisure activities, provided with measures of social distance and hygiene.

In the first phase of the “smart quarantine”, scheduled to last until May 25, the Ministry of Health allows the movement of people in the following cases:
- Work in certain areas (civil construction, industries, and home delivery services)
- Use of masks in public transport, taxis and cars by application.
- Individual physical activity in parks, with hours reserved for the elderly between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m.
- Physical activity within a radius of up to 500 meters from the house.
However, schools should only reopen after December, as recommended by the Paraguayan Ministry of Health.
According to the monitoring carried out by the Johns Hopkins University (United States), Paraguay accumulated until this Saturday 333 confirmed cases new coronavirus. Ten people died in the country due to Covid-19.
