Paris Saint-Germain is the French champion of the 2019/2020 season. The Ligue 1 clubs decided to close the tournament due to the new coronavirus pandemic and consider the pre-crisis classification as the final.

Therefore, Neymar’s PSG will be three consecutive Ligue 1 champions, accumulating the seventh victory in the last eight seasons (in 2016/2017, the champion was Monaco from Mbappé). In addition, the Paris club, with nine cups in total, will be just one to match the league’s 10 winners, Olympique de Marseille and Saint-Étinne.

According to the newspaper “L’Équipe”, the agreement between the Ligue 1 clubs also defined who will be the country’s representatives in next year’s continental tournaments. PSG, in addition to Marseille and Rennes, will play in the Champions League. Lille, Reims and Nice will play in the Europa League.

The criterion adopted by the French Football Federation (FFF) was the average of points added per game. In this way, Amiens and Toulose were relegated to the Second Division, while Lorient and Lens will be part of the elite in 2020/2021.
