BRAZIL – The new coronavirus has already infected 61,888 people in Brazil, killing 4,205. The figures are the balance of the Ministry of Health published on Sunday. In the previous balance, on Saturday, there were 58,509 cases of the disease and 4,016 deaths.
The lethality, that is, the number of people killed in relation to those who contracted the disease, is 6.79%. There were 189 new deaths, that is, an increase of 4.71% over Saturday. The number of new cases was 3,379, an increase of 5.78% over the previous day.
The Ministry of Health also reported that there are more than 1,322 deaths under investigation, meaning that it can still be counted as caused by the new coronavirus. Also according to the folder, of the 61,888 cases, 30,152 are from patients who have recovered and 27,531 are from others who are being followed. The rest – 4,205 – are those who died.
Deaths by state
São Paulo continues to be the most affected state, with 20,715 cases and 1,700 deaths. Then comes Rio de Janeiro, with 7,111 cases and 645 deaths.
Therefore, the states with the most cases are: Ceará (5,833 cases), Pernambuco (4,898), Amazonas (3,833), Maranhão (2,223) and Bahía (2,209).
The states with the most deaths after São Paulo and Río are: Pernambuco (415), Ceará (327), Amazonas (304), Maranhão (112) and Pará (100).
Covid-19 Evolution
This Sunday, the growth rate of cases and deaths slowed compared to the past three days. But, as the Ministry of Health has already explained on some occasions, it is normal that on weekends, the increase is less. Accumulated cases end up being counted at the beginning of the week. Last week it had a different dynamic because there was a holiday last Tuesday.
