The data were published on Thursday (14) by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics).
The result also shows that eight states have already exceeded the level of February last year, the period prior to the new coronavirus pandemic: Amazonas (14.9%), Santa Catarina (9.5%), Ceará (7.5%) , Minas Gerais (6.2%), São Paulo (6%), Paraná (5.9%), Rio Grande do Sul (5.2%) and Pernambuco (1.8%).
Bahia was the state that grew the most (4.9%), followed by Rio Grande do Sul (3.8%) and Amazonas (3.4%).
“This November increase in Bahia was driven by the results of the pulp and beverages sector,” says research manager Bernardo Almeida.
The industrial production of Rio Grande do Sul, the second largest positive influence, registered the seventh consecutive increase, with an accumulated rate of 67% between May and November.
According to Bernardo, Rio Grande do Sul had a good participation in the leather, travel and footwear sectors.
Amazonas, with its November peak influenced by the beverage sector, eliminated the 0.7% drop recorded in October.
São Paulo, which has the largest share of the results of the national industry, grew 1.5% in November, after falling 0.5% in October. Before, the state had registered five months of growth, between May and September, when it accumulated gains of 47%.
“As in recent months, the positive influences on the industry in São Paulo were in the vehicle sector and in the machinery and equipment sector,” says Bernardo.
Falls
On the other hand, among the places that registered the greatest drops in November, the highlights were Pará and Mato Grosso, where industrial production in their territories contracted 5.3% and 4.3%, respectively.
Pará had the largest decrease in absolute terms and was the main negative influence of the month.
“It is the third consecutive negative rate in the industry of Pará, with an accumulated loss of 10.4%”, Bernardo registers, citing as negative influences for the state the extractive sector, which concentrates around 88% of all industrial production of Pará, and the food sector.
Mato Grosso, for its part, fell again after growing 0.8% in October. The main component of the fall was the negative results of the food sectors, very influential in the local industry, and of petroleum derivatives and biofuels.
The other three places that fell in November were Pernambuco (-1.0%), Espírito Santo (-0.9%) and Goiás (-0.9%).
