A 65-year-old man was detained by the Minas Gerais Civil Police (PCMG) on suspicion of sexually abusing his own granddaughter for at least 8 years. The suspect, a businessman who would have a lot of influence in Betim, the city where he lives, and which is located in the metropolitan region, is in the Relocation Center of the Gameleira Penitentiary System (Ceresp), in the western region of Belo Horizonte.
According to the Betim Specialized Police Service for Women, responsible for the investigation, the abuses have occurred since the girl was 5 years old. The old man is accused by the girl, who is now 13 years old, and by her parents, of caressing her body and having had sexual relations with her.
“Even the teenager and her parents reported that the suspect had a predilection for her, gave her gifts, money and took her out,” said the Civil Police, in a note.
Still according to the Police, the decision to temporarily detain the businessman was given the possibility that other relatives of the old man could also be his victims and because of the influence and purchasing power that the suspect has in the city.
