Alice da Silva Ribeiro, 5, was diagnosed with a rare inflammatory syndrome related to infection with new coronavirus
(Sars-CoV-2) in Praia Grande (SP). According to the family, the patient was evaluated and discharged by seven doctors before receiving the diagnosis.

Alice’s mother, Eva da Silva Ribeiro, says that the girl’s maternal grandmother came to spend time at her home in early November. Not knowing that she was infected by the virus, the old woman was infected COVID-19
for family members.

One month after the infections, on December 11, Alice began to show symptoms of the disease, such as a high fever and abdominal pain. Eva took the girl to the doctor, who ordered an X-ray examination that found no lung infection. Alice was released, even without improvement.

Alice’s mother claims that the girl began to show symptoms of conjunctivitis, a reaction that is also caused by the new coronavirus infection. The doctor ordered more tests, which confirmed a blood infection. According to Eva da Silva Ribeiro, Alice screamed in pain.

Pediatric multisystemic inflammatory syndrome

Alice developed an image of pediatric multisystemic inflammatory syndrome, a rare disease that occurs in people 0 to 19 years old who have Covid-19 or who have already been cured. The main symptoms are abdominal pain, fever, and conjunctivitis.

Eva da Silva Ribeiro says that she even warned doctors about the possibility that Alice had developed the rare syndrome, but it was discredited by specialists. According to the doctors at the public hospital where Alice was admitted, the 5-year-old girl would have a virus or dengue.

The diagnosis of Multisystemic Inflammatory Syndrome was only confirmed on December 23, twelve days after the onset of the first symptoms. According to her mother, when the illness was confirmed, Alice was already on the mend. The 5-year-old girl is 100% cured of the disease.
