The president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Pedro Guimarães, said that he plans to open up to 45 million new digital accounts in the coming months for Brazilians to obtain emergency aid of R $ 600.
The president of Caixa was heard by videoconference by the mixed commission dedicated to supervising the government’s actions to combat the new coronavirus.
He stressed that assistance to beneficiaries still needs a strong presence, in bank branches and lottery stores, however, with the improvement of logistics there will be “a revolution”.

Registrations not yet approved
After senators Esperidião Amin (PP-SC), Chico Rodrigues (DEM-RR) and Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP) expressed concern about citizens who have not yet approved their registrations, the president of Caixa said that all citizens eligible for the aid that is registered until July 3 will be guaranteed the receipt of the three installments.
Guimarães also reported that approximately 17 million registrations are pending due to irregularities in filling in the information. Holders of these incorrect records will receive the first installment on the same payment date as the second, accumulated.

The project amends a 1993 law, which deals with the organization of social assistance in the country. According to the text, during the three-month period, R $ 600 emergency aid will be granted to workers who, at the same time, meet the following requirements:

Aid will be cut in case of non-compliance with the above requirements. The text also makes clear that the worker must exercise activity on the condition that:
- individual microentrepreneur (MEI); or
- individual taxpayer to the General Social Security System who works for himself; or
- informal worker, whether employed or self-employed, registered in the Federal Government’s Single Registry for Social Programs (CadÚnico), until March 20, 2020, or who meets the monthly criteria of family income mentioned above.
From now on, the proposal establishes that only two people from the same family can receive cumulative emergency aid and the Bolsa Familia benefit cumulatively, and the Bolsa Familia benefit can be temporarily replaced by emergency aid, if the amount of the Aid is more advantageous to the beneficiary. How to request assistance
