Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were chosen to command the United States for the next four years.
Moments after Democrat Joe Biden’s victory was declared in the american elections, world leaders congratulated the newly elected president of the United States this Saturday (November 7), but, so far, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has not made a public statement.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the victory for Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris was a “historic achievement.”
“The United States is our greatest ally and I look forward to working together on our common priorities, from climate change to trade and security,” Johnson said.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel wished Biden luck and success and congratulated Harris on being the first elected vice president in the country’s history.
“I look forward to working with President Biden. Our transatlantic friendship is indispensable if we are to meet the great challenges of our time,” Merkel said.
French President Emmanuel Macron stressed that his country and the United States “have a lot of work to do to overcome today’s challenges.”
“Let’s work together,” Macron said.
Argentine President Alberto Fernández pointed out that Harris will be the first woman to hold the position of Vice President of the United States.
“I congratulate the American people for their record turnout in the elections, a clear expression of popular will,” said Fernández.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stressed that the two countries are “close friends, partners and allies.”
“We share a relationship that is unique on the world stage. I am looking forward to working together and developing this with you,” Trudeau said.
Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said “we look forward to the World Summit on Democracy with President-elect Biden and working with him to crack down on illegal tax havens and steal the nation’s wealth from corrupt leaders.”
“We will also continue to work with the United States for peace in Afghanistan and the region,” Khan said.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said he was “looking forward to working with you [Biden e Harris] and deepen our ties of friendship and cooperation. “
Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa said he hopes that he will soon be able to “work on strengthening transatlantic relations and managing global issues, such as climate change, defense of democracy and international security.”
The president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, wished Biden and Harris luck.
“We are prepared to cooperate with the United States and face the great global challenges together,” said Sánchez.
Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou said he will work with the new government to “strengthen relations between our countries for the good of our people.”

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said the record turnout in the elections “illustrates the vibrant political life and democracy” of the United States.
“I would also like to congratulate KamalaHarris on her historic election as first vice president,” De Croo said.
“She will be an incredible example and an important role model for girls around the world, showing them that girls and boys have the same rights and opportunities.”
