The second round of the 2020 elections ended with a bitter taste for the Workers’ Party (PT). The party was the one that led the most candidates to the second round of the dispute, with names in 15 of the 57 cities where there was a second round. But the 2020 elections will end without commanding state capital.

At the end of the investigation, the PT members were victorious in only four cities: Contagem (MG), Diadema (SP), Juiz de Fora (MG) and Mauá (SP).

In 2020, the legend of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (2003-2010) decreased the number of cities governed for the second time in a row.

From 630 mayors elected in 2012, the red star acronym rose to 256 in 2016 and 183 this year.
