The forces will operate at 345 locations, divided as follows:

  • AM: 32 locations
  • AC: 19 locations
  • MA: 98 locations
  • MS: 5 locations
  • PA: 72 locations
  • RN: 113 locations
  • FOR: 6 locations

The president of the court, Minister Luís Roberto Barroso, stressed that the measure is justified because, in these places, there is a history of conflicts in previous elections, a reduced number of military police, the need to guarantee the security and physical integrity of the headquarters of the electoral registry and servers, in addition to the distance and difficult access between the locations.

The first round of the elections will take place on the 15th and the second round, if applicable, on November 29. The calendar was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In 2018, more than 28,000 soldiers from the Armed Forces were summoned to serve 598 locations in the two rounds of voting. In 2016, there were 25 thousand military personnel and in 2014, 30 thousand.
