Another tragedy related to the rain marks the history of Belo Horizonte and leaves another family in mourning in the capital. On this occasion, Caio Santana Froes, 13, died after the bicycle on which he was dragged by a flood during the storm on Saturday (2) in the Santa Rosa neighborhood, located in the Pampulha region, in Belo Horizonte.
Firefighters explained that the young man and his bicycle were dragged to a stop under a parked vehicle on Líbero Badaró street. With the force of the flood, the boy could not leave the place and it is suspected that he was suffocated by the water.
The firefighters were called and managed to rescue the teenager, who was unconscious and in cardiac arrest (CRP). The victim’s resuscitation protocol was started immediately.
The rescuers also performed cardiopulmonary massages and oxygenated the child until the arrival of advanced support from SAMU (USA), who immediately transferred the child to the Risoleta Neves Hospital, in Venda Nova. The fire truck followed the action and cleared traffic.
At the hospital, doctors tried to maneuver the teenager’s chest for more than 20 minutes, but to no avail.
