A 12-year-old boy drowned on Maresias beach, in São Sebastião (SP), yesterday morning. His 15-year-old brother also drowned and is missing. Searches for the teenager now resumed at 8 a.m.
According to GBMAR (Agrupación de Bomberos Marítimos), the brothers and three other friends were playing in the sea, around 6:20 am, at the time of entry 8, when they were swept away by a return stream and could not return to the strip of sand.
A surfer who was on the beach managed to help three of the young men, but when he returned to the sea to rescue the brothers, he no longer found them.
There is a lifeguard base about 600 meters from the accident site. The base begins operating at 7 am. The lifeguards were called and with jet skis they began to search for the brothers.
The body of the 12-year-old boy was found around 9:30 am, near the place where he would have disappeared. The teenager came to the rescue, but has already reached the hospital dead.
The older brother has not yet been located. With jet skis, firefighters resumed their search this morning.
Also according to GBmar, the brothers are from Indaiatuba, in the interior of São Paulo, and they arrived at the beach around 4:30 am, on an excursion with the family.
