When I started writing this column, the last of the year, the news came out that the effectiveness of CoronaVac is 91.25%. At least in Turkey. Around here, the Butantan Institute postponed the announcement of the precise figures, arguing that Sinovac, the developer of the immunizer, had preferred to unify the dissemination of data in all countries.

Although the operation of the vaccine itself is not on the agenda, frustration was inevitable. Worse still, just the opportunity offered to deniers to distill their cheek.

AstraZeneca and CoronaVac itself should be responsible for immunizing the majority of Brazilians. The reason for the general anguish, strange in the eyes of Minister Eduardo Pazuello, is the realization that all efforts to get out of this moment are made despite the government. Not for you.

Contrary to what happens with CoronaVac’s performance, there is no doubt about the effectiveness of Jair Bolsonaro in the Brazilian government. It is equivalent to his capacity to be moved by the mourning of almost two hundred thousand families.

To say that the president has been wrong about everything since the beginning of the scourge would be an understatement. While tens of thousands of Brazilians died, their stance ranged from irrationality to debauchery. Between madness and crime.

Discovering contempt is essential. And not only because of the fact of registering, but because Bolsonaro already generates narratives to stop the greatest tragedy imposed by a government in the history of the Republic. Including the military dictatorship.

Jair Messias Bolsonaro, president of Brazil, raised the flag of anti-science, mocked the suffering of the people, prescribed useless medicines, sabotaged efforts with measures to reduce contagion, promoted crowds and disdained the disease. All this interspersed with jet ski tours and an exhibition of used clothing in their possession.

These days, in a seemingly frank conversation with one of his sons, Congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro, Jair called the increase in the proliferation of Sars-Cov-2 a “peal.” In addition to another lie – this new wave is by no means small – the term fits perfectly in the threat posed by his re-election in 22.

Like the pandemic, the government of Jair Bolsonaro will not last forever. However, his failure to deal with Covid-19, at the cost of so many lives lost, will never be forgotten.
