He said this while inspecting the activities of a mobile court in Banani on Friday to remove illegal billboards and signs.
Atiqul said, “Whatever you do, you have to get permission from the city corporation. But many people do not care about any kind of law, policy, which is like putting up signs, shop signs, LED signs.
“Everybody says during the campaign, we don’t know. But when you get a business license, the size of the sign is also mentioned. If you make 30ft by 40ft sign with approval of 3ft by 4ft sign, if LED lights are installed there, it is invalid. You can’t do business in Dhaka breaking the law in this way. “
The mayor of Dhaka North said that the beauty of the city is being ruined as a result of putting up signs in this way, the sky cannot be seen. Those who put up signs illegally think they have a lot of power.
“They are doing business, they are making money. However, no illegal sign can remain in the city.”
Atiqul said that during the operation many people called him and requested it, many asked for time.
“Someone says don’t break my sign. Some people tell me they don’t get the phone, I want to tell everyone. When the mobile court is underway, the eviction is underway, no one will call me. Even if I call, I won’t answer.”
Operations will take place in other areas of the DNCC next month. In this way, illegal signs will be removed in all DNCC areas in phases.
The operation was carried out on Friday by Motakabbir Ahmed, Regional Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate, Zone-7.
About fifty illegal billboards and signs were removed during the operation. These billboards have been sold at auction for Rs 40,000.
