The trial of a rape case in Bagerhat ended in a week. Today is the day of judgment.

The rape case of a seven-year-old boy in the Mongla Upazila shelter project area was framed on October 12. Discussions between the state and the defendants ended on Sunday.

The defendant in this case is Abdul Mannan Sardar. He is the son of the late Ahmed Sardar from the village of Makordon in Mongla upazila.

The case alleges that the seven-year-old orphan boy lives in his uncle’s house in the Makordon village landless shelter project area. On the afternoon of October 3, neighbor Abdul Mannan Sardar took her home and raped her, tempting her to eat cookies. That same night, the girl’s uncle filed a lawsuit against Abdul Mannan at the Mongla Police Station and the police arrested him.

The investigating officer in the case, the Mongla SI Biswajit Mukherjee Police Station, filed a charge sheet in court on October 11.

State attorney APP Ranjit Kumar Mandal said that the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act states that if a defendant is caught in a rape case, the trial can be completed in 15 business days. This case of child rape is proof of that.
