Within the framework of a project entitled ‘Development of ICT infrastructure, human resources and technological skills of the National Parliament Secretariat’ of the Ministry, the parliamentarians receive model printers HP Elite Book and Laser Jet Pro for official jobs.

Laptops were purchased for the first Member of Parliament in the Ninth Parliament as part of a project entitled “Creating connectivity for honorable Members of Parliament and creating intranet applications in Parliament”. However, the legislators of that parliament did not succeed.

Within the framework of this project, the laptops purchased in 2011 were handed over to the members of the X Parliament in 2014. The condition was to return them at the end of the legislature, but it was not taken later.

Subsequently, the project was taken over by the Department of Information and Communications Technology.

Although the ICT department has purchased laptops and printers from the ministry, the IT department of the Parliament Secretariat is distributing them.

Said the department’s maintenance engineer. Asif Iqbal told bdnews24.com: “We have not received all the laptops and printers for the honorable Members of Parliament yet. I will get them in stages.”

A letter signed by Parliamentary Secretary Zafar Ahmed Khan asked MPs to file their demand for laptops and printers before September 30.
