The “core stage” of the Orion spacecraft will be shipped to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida shortly after the litmus test. It will be attached to the main part of the spaceship.

SLS and Orion will be sent simultaneously to orbit the moon experimentally. Whether the life support system for astronauts works properly will also be one of the objectives of these experiments.

This is the first step in Artemis’s mission. ‘Artemis-1’ will be sent into lunar orbit next year. There will be no astronauts on that mission. Two years later, in 2023, it will be the mission ‘Artemis-2’. There will be an astronaut in the spaceship. However, it will not get out of the spaceship.

According to Bridenstein, an astronaut pilot will operate the Orion spacecraft after it separates from the SLS rocket in lunar orbit during the Artemis-2 mission.

The next Artemis-3 mission will be a moon landing experiment from the Orion spacecraft. In preparation for these experiments, NASA will begin sending the necessary equipment to the spacecraft in lunar orbit twice a year starting in 2021.
