The body was found inside a drum at the Bhurghata bus stop in Barisal’s Gournadi upazila. Her name is Sabina Yasmin (34).
She is the daughter of Saheb Ali from the Nazirpur area of Muladi upazila of Barisal and the wife of Shahidul Islam Hawladar, a Qatari expatriate from the Diasur area of Gournadi municipality.
As her husband was in Qatar, Sabina Yasmin lived with her three children in a rented house in Fatullah, Narayanganj.
Sabina Yasmin’s body was found inside the drum of a passenger bus named PS Classic Paribahan on the internal route at the Bhurghata bus stop in Gournadi around 10 pm on Friday (November 20). Earlier, a male passenger with a drum escaped from the bus. After recovering the body, a group of police officers led by the Gournadi OC Afzal Hossain police started the operation to unravel the mystery of the identity and the murder. Within 20 hours, they were able to reveal the identity of the unidentified woman’s body and the murder mystery.
Sabina Yasmin’s body was identified by her brother-in-law Monir Hawladar on Saturday (November 21) afternoon.
Debor Monir Hawladar said his fiancee Sabina Yasmin came to Gournadi from Narayanganj on Friday morning with her children. Then around 10am, he got a call on his phone. After talking on the phone, he left the house and left the house. It has not been found since.
According to a police source in Gournadi, a police team led by the OC started work after recovering the woman’s body last Friday night. The group carried out raids at various locations from Friday night to Saturday afternoon. At one stage of the investigation, they were able to reveal the identity of the woman and identify the killers.
According to the investigation, a man named Khaleq Hawlader from the Mahilara area of Gournadi paid Tk 4 lakh about 10 months ago to go abroad through the murdered woman Sabina Yasmin and her expatriate husband Shahidul Hawlader. Coronavirus outbreaks occur. Later, when Khaleq Hawladar refused to go abroad for this reason, Sabina recently returned him 1.5 lakh rupees (Khaleq).
On Friday morning, Khaleq Hawladar called Sabina on the phone. Sabina’s body was later recovered from a drum on the bus at night. Sabina was killed after receiving a blow to the head with a sharp object. The body was then transported by bus in a plastic drum for the purpose of disappearing.
The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Gournadi police station, Afzal Hossain, said: “The police recovered the body of an unidentified woman from inside a drum at the Bhurghata bus stop in Gournadi Upazila around 11 pm on Friday. Following this incident, the name of the woman and the murder mystery were revealed. His fingerprints were collected at the hospital morgue in the morning. Subsequently, the identity of the woman was identified by fingerprints. He then spoke to various people to unravel the murder mystery. Information technology assistance was also provided to identify those involved in the killings.
“We have been able to unravel the murder mystery in 20 hours,” he added. It would not be appropriate to say anything now for the sake of arresting the accused.
