The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has demanded an account of the assets of Monir Hossain alias Golden Monir and his wife Raushan Akter, who were arrested on charges of illegal possession of weapons, drugs and currency.
According to responsible ACC sources, ACC director Akhter Hossain sent a notice on Wednesday asking for information on the Monir couple’s assets.
In a separate notice, they and their dependents have been asked to submit all real and personal property, liabilities, sources of income, and details of their acquisition on their own behalf or anonymously within 21 business days of the receipt of the order. Monir has to give details of the assets acquired since June 17, 2009 and his wife Raushan has to give details of the assets acquired since October 16, 2016.
It is known that in the preliminary investigation, the ACC found illegal assets worth Tk 610 crore in the name of Monir Hossain and Tk 5.5 crore in the name of his wife Raushan Akter.
In this context, the deputy director submitted a report to the ACC recommending the issuance of a notice requesting information on the assets of the two. Shamsul Alam.
On November 21, the RAB arrested Monir Hossain at his house No. 41, Highway No. 13, Merul Baddar on charges of illegal possession of weapons, drugs and currency.
