Stabilization continues with the eviction of 34 stores in the Sundarbans market

The High Court has granted a three-month stay on the eviction of 34 stores on the right side of the Sundarbans Square market in Gulistan. Justice on Thursday. Mojibur Rahman Mia and Judge Mohiuddin Shamim approved the order along with the Virtual Superior Court Rules. The rule seeks to know why the notification of the Municipal Corporation to vacate the store will not be declared invalid.
Lawyer Badruddoza Badal heard the writ petition in court. Attorney General AM Amin Uddin and Assistant Attorney General Nowroz Russell Chowdhury represented the state. Badruddoza Badal later told reporters that on December 14, Dhaka South City Corporation announced the eviction of those stores with a notice to remove illegal structures outside of the original design. Last Sunday, the owners of 34 stores filed a judicial petition in Superior Court challenging the notice. The store owners took time out before evicting and petitioned City Corporation. But with another notice on Thursday, the city corporation said the eviction campaign would take place at noon. The court granted a three-month suspension after Dhaka South City Corporation challenged the notice by filing a supplemental request on Thursday morning. At the same time, a rule has been issued as to why the City Corporation’s notice for eviction of stores should not be declared invalid. You have been asked to respond to the rule within the next four weeks after receiving the order.
Early Thursday, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) launched an eviction campaign to remove all illegal structures and shops outside of the original design in and around the Sundarbans Square Supermarket in Gulistan. Executive Justices Moniruzzaman and Irfan Ahmed, led by DSCC Property Director Russell Sabrin, are carrying out the operation. According to the property manager, merchants have been doing business illegally by building infrastructure on the fifth floor without permission, although it is legal up to the fourth floor of the store. In addition to the original design around the market stairs, sidewalks, elevators and bathrooms have been built to occupy the space. Here are 69 illegal stores.
