Russia and China did not send any congratulatory messages to US presidential candidate Joe Biden until Monday. The Kremlin is targeting Donald Trump’s legal challenge to the election, Reuters reported.
Referring to Trump’s promise of legal challenges, the Kremlin said it would await the official election results before commenting.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is silent on Biden’s victory. However, before the vote, Putin rejected Biden’s anti-Russian rhetoric and welcomed his comments on nuclear arms control. Putin sided with Biden’s son Hunter against Trump’s criticism.
“We believe that it is appropriate to wait for the official vote count,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a news conference after the US elections.
Four days after the election, Biden’s 280 electoral college votes were confirmed for the White House victory on Saturday. Biden defeated Trump by more than 4 million votes across the country.
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Trump on winning the Electoral College vote in 2016, defeating Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. When asked why this did not happen this time, Peskov said: “Of course there is a clear difference.”

Russia’s alleged mediation to vote for Trump in the 2016 US presidential election has exacerbated the relationship. Russia, however, denies the accusations.
Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told a news conference: “We have seen Biden declared the winner of the election. We know that the outcome of the US presidential election will be determined by law. and the order of the United States. “
On November 9, the day after the 2016 elections, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Trump.
