The research committee said that the eligibility for the appointment of professors at Rajshahi University is now the lowest among the four autonomous universities (Dhaka, Jahangirnagar, Chittagong and Rajshahi universities) under the 1983 ordinance through policy changes. The Vice Chancellor has acted against the spirit of the 1973 ordinance promulgated by the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by downgrading the teacher hiring policy.
The research committee said the sole purpose of lowering eligibility was to open the way for the recruitment of those who were not eligible to apply before 2016.
On this occasion, Sanjana Sobhan, daughter of the Vice Chancellor, who passed from the Marketing Department, was appointed to the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management and her son-in-law ATM Shahed Parvez was appointed to the Institute of Business Administration (IBA). Under the old policy, they were not eligible to run. Because the merit of the vice-chancellor’s daughter was the 21st in the department, and the merit of the son-in-law’s MBA exam was the eighth and her result was CGPA-3.46. However, most of the other applicants had higher educational qualifications. In addition, the recently created Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management is usually the first to accept candidates who have passed the Tourism and Hospitality Management course. But instead, the appointment of professors in marketing and management was notified. Through this the daughter of the vice-rector was named.
