A 23-year-old housewife was allegedly raped in Kapasia, Gazipur. The housewife and her friends tortured the housewife by calling her to give her a mobile phone. The accused also demanded 50,000 rupees from her mother to release the housewife after torture. The incident took place on Thursday night.
The victim’s mother filed a case with the Kapasia police station this morning. After receiving the complaint, the police used information technology to rescue the housewife who was tortured at night. Police arrested seven people, including three accused rapists, during the raid.
The detainees are: Roman merchant (20), Md. Jobayer Bepari (20), Md. Mostarin Sardar (21), Md. Sahabul Hossain Shakib (22), Masum Sheikh (21), Rakib Hossain (20) and Mahfuzul (20 ). Among them Roman merchants, he said. Jobay’s merchant and Md. Mostarin Sardar tortured the housewife. The other four collaborated with the accused rapists. The residence of the detainees is in the Targaon area of upazila.
Sakhawat Hossain, 28, who led the gang rape, has been on the run since the incident. Sakhawat Hossain is the son of Ain Uddin from neighboring Char Kham. An attempt is being made to arrest him.
The housewife said that Sakhawat was her old acquaintance. I used to talk to him from time to time on my cell phone as a friend. Sakhawat called him around 6:15 p.m. Thursday and wanted to give him a mobile phone as a gift. According to him, he went to an area a kilometer and a half from his home. There, Sakhawat called his seven friends. Later, he was picked up from there and taken to a secluded place next to him and was tortured by four people, including Sakhawat.
Kapasia Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Afzal Hossain told Kaler Kanth that the police first arrested Sahabul Hossain Sakib based on his immediate development number after receiving a complaint. The tortured housewife was later rescued on the basis of her confession. After that, six more defendants have been arrested from different areas in a night raid. He added that the main protagonist in the gang rape case was Sakhawat Hossain. He has been on the run since the incident. An operation is underway to arrest him.
