Nur Hossain was acquitted along with 5 associates

The court acquitted Nur Hossain and his five accomplices, who were sentenced to death in seven murder cases in Narayanganj, in an extortion case brought by a businessman. Narayanganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Sabina Yasmin Roy delivered the verdict on Thursday afternoon.

The same court has heard 6 more cases against Nur Hossain.

Along with Nur Hossain, Nur’s nephews are councilors Shahjalal Badal, Shahjahan, Mortuza Zaman Churchill, Ali Mohammad, and Bulbul.

The prosecutor Additional prosecutor Jasmeen Ahmed told Jugantar that on May 30, 2013, Nur Hossain demanded the extortion of Tk 5 lakh from a businessman named Iqbal Hossain from the Hirajhil area of ​​the Siddhirganj police station. Nur Hossain and his associates destroyed Iqbal’s business without receiving any money. Iqbal Hossain filed an extortion case against Nur Hossain and six other people at the Siddhirganj Police Station. The court acquitted Nur Hossain and five of his associates as no evidence was found in the case.

He added that after the verdict was announced, the court heard six cases against Nur Hossain, including weapons, drugs and extortion. Arguments have been held in one extortion and one weapons case, and in 4 cases no witnesses have been presented. The court has set January 8 for the next hearing in six cases.

According to judicial sources, Nur Hossain was brought to court from the Kashimpur jail in Gazipur at 9 am amid tight security measures. After the procedure, Nur Hossain was returned to Kashimpur Prison.

It is worth mentioning that out of 8 cases, after 8 killings in 2014, several illegal weapons were recovered from Nur Hossain’s home in Siddhirganj. The police brought three cases against Nur Hossain under the Gun Law. On June 12, 2014, Nur Hossain, his brother Nur Uddin, his nephew Shahjalal Badal, Lokman and four others were charged in the case of autorickshaw driver Saidul Islam for demanding 20,000 rupees.

After seven murders, the district administration revoked Nur Hossain’s legal weapon license. You are asked to submit. But without presenting it, Nur Hossain fled the country. Another case was filed under the Gun Law.
