Minni’s father, Mozammel Hossain Kishore, left for Dhaka with a copy of the full verdict in the Rifat murder case. He comes to Dhaka to appeal to the higher court against Minni’s death sentence with a copy of the verdict.
Minni’s father received a certified copy of the full verdict from the Barguna Session and District Court of Judges around 7 p.m. Saturday (October 3). However, Minni’s father could not be reached because her mobile phone was turned off.
Minni’s lawyer, Mahbubul Bari Aslam, confirmed to the media that he had received a copy of the verdict. Minni’s father went to Dhaka at night with a copy of the verdict. He will appeal to the higher court on Sunday (October 4).
Rifat Sharif was shot and killed on June 26, 2019. Later, the case took a new turn when Minni, the lead witness in the case brought by Rifat Sharif’s father, Abdul Halim Dulal Sharif, was charged.
Minni, Rifat Faraji, Al Qayyum aka Rabbi Akon, Mohaiminul Islam Sifat, Md. Heart of Rezwanul Ali Khan also known as Heart of Tiktak and Md. Hasan was sentenced to death and each defendant was fined 50,000 rupees.
The four remaining accused adults were acquitted. The verdict indicated that those convicted must appeal to the higher court within four business days of the verdict.
