The RAB arrested Tarekul Islam Tareq, accused in a case of raping a housewife in the dormitory of Sylhet MC College. He was arrested around 7pm on Tuesday (September 29). All the defendants in the case were detained by Tareq’s arrest.
He was arrested in Dirai upazila of Sunamganj. He is the son of Rafiqul Islam from Umednagar in Sunamganj Sadar upazila. Tareq had a beard on his face at the time of the rape, but he cut it off to avoid arrest.
The matter was confirmed by ASP (Media) Obain de Sylhet RAB-9. He said they were going to take Tareq to Sylhet. He was arrested on the basis of secret information. Additionally, RAB arrested two more people named Ainuddin and Rajan on suspicion of being involved in the incident.
