Local police arrested a French woman for allegedly making a video of her naked on a bridge. The nude video was taken on a bridge in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India.
According to the BBC report, the video made on the bridge, which is very sacred to Hindus called ‘Lakshman Jhula’ on the Ganges River, was posted on social media.
French police arrested the woman on Thursday and released her on bail. But as part of the investigation, the woman’s mobile phone was seized, NDTV reported.
Despite apologizing for Sunday’s incident, the woman denied being completely naked and claimed that she made the video to draw everyone’s attention to the issue of sexual harassment.
Police said the 26-year-old woman, identified as Mary Helen, had been charged under internet law after posting her nude video on social media at the bridge.
The French woman told police she made the video to promote her jewelry business.
He is currently out on bail, but could face up to three years in prison if convicted.
