The Detective Division (DB) arrested Saad Ahmed, general secretary of the recently dissolved Kushtia district BCL committee, in connection with the beating of a journalist and his cameraman from a private television channel.

He was arrested in the Babu area of ​​Alamdanga upazila of the Chuadanga district around 2 pm on Monday.

It was learned that the leader of the Chhatra League, Saad, was hiding in the home of Abu Taleb Raushan, a school teacher and Jamaat leader in the area. The district detective police arrested him and took him to Kushtia based on secret information.

Saad is the son of Maula Mandal from Dabiravita village in the Patikabari junction of Kushtia Sadar upazila. Abu Taleb Raushan’s home is also in Patikabari. Lives in Alamdanga for work.

During his student life, Abu Taleb, who was the chairman of the Chhatra Shibir of the Kushtia Polytechnic Institute, is currently involved in Jamaat politics. However, it is not known at what level the leader of Jamaat is.

According to the police, Deesesh Chandra Sarkar, a correspondent for Dipta TV, and his cameraman were beaten by Saad and his followers while collecting news on 8 December.

Debesh filed a case with the Kushtia Model Police Station. In addition, there are various accusations against Saad, including cooperation in the drug business.

Kushtia District Police Superintendent Tanvir Arafat told Jugantar that BCL leader Saad had been arrested in Alamdanga in a case of torture of journalists. He was hiding in the home of a Jamaat leader.

However, the police officer could not say whether the BCL leader was related to the Jamaat leader.
