Additional Police Superintendent (Administration) Anwar Hossain said this on Saturday.
The other four policemen included an SI and three officers, but Anwar Hossain did not name them.
He said that on September 14, a man named Lutfur Rahman was coming to Alipore on a motorcycle with another person in front of the Square Factory in Shayestaganj. The police seized the motorcycle on the way and wanted to see the documents. The person with the motorcycle left the motorcycle in the custody of Lutfur Rahman and went home to find the documents. But he didn’t bring any more papers.
Police officer Anwar said the police took Lutfur Rahman to the police station. Later, the Shaistaganj OC Mozammel Hossain Police Station detained him and demanded money. Otherwise, he was threatened with prosecution for being involved in the yaba business. At one point, Lutfar was released from the police station at night with 26,000 taka. Lutfur Rahman filed a complaint with Habiganj Police Superintendent Mohammad Ullah on 18 September.
Police officer Anwar said a committee was formed after the allegations began an investigation. Initially, five police officers, including the CO, were removed after the allegations were determined to be true. Among them are a SI and three bailiffs.
Additional Police Superintendent Anwar Hossain said the investigation was ongoing.
