The trial court has published a full copy of the verdict in the much-disputed Rifat Sharif murder case in Barguna. A 429-page copy of the verdict was delivered to the families of the six convicts around 7 p.m. Saturday.

Golam Sarwar, Administrative Officer of the Barguna Sessions Court of Judges, told NTV Online around 8 pm: “Copies of the full verdict in the Rifat Sharif murder case have been delivered to the families of the six convicts.” In addition, the case documents will be sent to the Audiencia Nacional on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Mozammel Hossain Kishore, father of Ayesha Siddique Minni, who was sentenced to death, left for Dhaka at night to appeal with a copy of the verdict. The defendant will file an appeal in Superior Court this week. The appeal must be filed within seven business days following receipt of the copy of the judgment.

When Minni’s father, Mozammel Hossain Kishore, was contacted to discuss the matter, his mobile phone was found turned off. However, it is known that tomorrow he will go to the courtroom of the Supreme Court attorney, attorney ZI Khan Panna.

Defender Mahbubul Bari Aslam, Minni’s lawyer in Barguna, said: “Minni’s father received a copy of the verdict around 7.30pm on Saturday. After receiving the copy, he left Barguna for Dhaka. Due to lack of time, I could not read what the court mentioned in the verdict. However, Minni’s father told me that he would appeal to the superior court on Sunday.

The Barguna Sessions Court of Justice has ordered the execution of six people, including Rifat’s wife, Ayesha Siddique Minni, in the Rifat Sharif murder case discussed on September 30. Those sentenced to death are- Md. Rakibul Hasan alias Rifat Faraji (23), Al Qayyum alias Rabbi Akon (21), Mohaiminul Islam Sifat (19), Rezoan Ali Khan Hridoy alias Tiktak Hridoy (22), Md. Hasan (19) and Ayesha Siddique Minni (19). The court has fined each of those convicted in the same case 50,000 taka.

All four defendants were acquitted in the verdict. Musa (22), Rafiul Islam Rabbi (20), Md. Sagar (19) and Kamrul Hasan Simon (21).

Rifat Sharif was brutally beaten to death in public on June 26 last year. Among the 24 defendants in the case, Rifat’s wife, Ayesha Siddique Minni, and 10 other adult defendants were sentenced by the district and session judge, Md. Ashaduzzaman. Although the main defendant in the case. Sabbir Ahmed Nayan aka Nayanbond was killed in a ‘shootout’ with police and another defendant Md. Moises is a fugitive.
