He made the remarks after the case’s first investigating officer testified at the Special Anti-Terrorism Court in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Abhijit Roy, a scientifically minded writer and founder of a free-spirited blog, used to live in the United States with his wife. The two returned to the country in 2015 for the book fair.
After arriving in Dhaka on February 26, when they were returning from the book fair in the evening, they were attacked in the TSC area of Dhaka University.
Abhijit Roy’s wife, Rafida Ahmed Bonya, was also injured in the attack on the night of February 26, 2015.
Abhijit was killed by the knife of a terrorist and his wife Bonya was also seriously injured. They cut off a finger from his hand. Then he returned to the United States.
The day after the murder, Abhijit’s father, the late Professor Ajay Roy, filed a murder case with the Shahbagh Police Station. Before dying, Ajay Roy had testified in court about his physical illness.
Lawyer Zakir said 26 people had testified in the case, adding that “no further evidence is needed.” He expects the verdict in the case to be announced in February.

During the investigation, Subrata Goldar took the deceased’s investigation report, seizure list, map, index, and statements of some witnesses under Article 161. He testified in court supporting these issues.
He was subsequently questioned by the defendant’s lawyer, Mosleh Uddin Jasim, Khairul Islam Liton and two other lawyers.

Monirul Islam, the then investigating officer of the case and inspector of the police anti-terrorist unit, filed a charge sheet against the six in court on March 13, 2019. 34 people became witnesses in the case.
On April 11 of that year, the judge of the special anti-terrorism court of Dhaka. Mojibur Rahman learned of the charge sheet against the six defendants. He later brought charges against the defendants on August 1 last year and ordered the trial to begin.
The defendants in the case are Major Syed Mohammad Ziaul Haque alias Zia, Mozammel Hussain alias Simon, Abu Siddique Sohail alias Shakib alias Sajid alias Shahab, Akram Hossain alias Abir, Md. Arafat Rahman and Shafiur Rahman Farabi.
The first two accused are fugitives.
