Irregularities and corruption have started in the postal department project ‘Post e-Center for Rural Community’ worth around Tk 541 crore. Knowing that it would not be possible to retain the post in this situation, the project manager responsible for the irregularities and looting and now the Director General of the Postal Department (DG) Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhadra (SS Bhadra) has started a mischievous attempt to appoint an official trusted for the position.

At a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technology on Wednesday, he recommended the removal of the Director General of the Postal Department Sudhanshu Shekhar on various charges of corruption.

However, last Thursday, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Mustafa Jabbar, told Kaler Kanth: “The ministry respects the recommendation of the parliamentary committee to remove Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhadra. However, the implementation of this recommendation must be legal. A presidential order will be required to remove someone from the post of general director of the postal department. In addition, the working document of the decision of the parliamentary committee has not yet reached us.

Many people have started talking about the corruption of the postal department, including the DG, after a report titled “Theft from the postal DG” was published on the Voice on Friday.

Relevant officials said, the deputy secretary of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications. As there was an investigative committee headed by Musleh Uddin, corruption in the digitization of the postal department was revealed. However, incidents of irregularities in various activities during the time of Director General Sudhanshu Shekhar have yet to come to light. Given this situation, last Thursday a meeting was called in the post and telecommunications department on the general problems of the postal department, including the selection of the new general director. But the secretary did not attend the meeting because there was no minister. As a result, in the absence of the Minister-Secretary, some discussions were held but no decision was made. It is known that another meeting may be held next week.

According to sources, in this situation, Director General Sudhanshu Shekhar is trying to appoint an officer from the 13th group of the postal cadre as director general in violation of seniority in collaboration with high-level ministry officials. The official participated in various activities of the DG. While Sudhanshu Shekhar was the project manager for several projects, he did most of his work with that officer. So if he can be made CEO, Sudhanshu Shekhar’s problem will be comparatively less. It is known that there has been discontent in the postal department with the news of such misconduct.

Postal officials say there has never been a seniority violation in the appointment of a CEO. They are not afraid of it happening again. They hope that the Minister and Secretary of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications will not take any controversial decisions on the matter.

It is known that there are currently 12 people occupying the position of Additional Director General of the Postal Department and General Director of the Post Office of the same rank. Zaida Sattar is the oldest of all. She’s an officer of the seventh batch. Towards the end of her term. After the eighth batch. Siraj Uddin and Bahija Akhter, said the ninth batch. Faizul Azim and Mansur Rahman Mollah, said the eleventh batch. Jamal Pasha and Md. Shamsul Alam, 13th lot Mohammad Shahidul Islam, SM Shahbuddin, Harun Aur Rashid, Tarun Kanti Sikder and Kazi Asadul Islam.
