The Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Abdul Gafur, 65, chairman of the Steering Committee of the Baitus Salat Jame Mosque in the western part of Narayanganj. He was arrested in the Fatulla area of Upazila on Friday night.

In the case brought by the police regarding the explosion at the mosque, the CID arrested eight officers and employees of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited in the Narayanganj Fatulla area of different areas of Fatulla on the morning of September 19. . They are currently out on bail. The CID arrested Mubarak Hossain, 35, an electrician from the West Talla area on September 20.
The explosion took place at the Baitus Salat Jame mosque on September 4 at 9:15 pm. Forty people were burned, including imams, muezzins, district administration officials, students, journalists and children. They were rescued and admitted to the Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Among burn victims, 34 died during treatment. On 5 September, Deputy Inspector of Fatullah Police Station (SI), Humayun Kabir, presented a case to the Fatullah Police Station. Later, the case was turned over to the CID.
