ECNEC approves 5 projects at a cost of Rs 127 crore

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved five projects at a cost of Tk 1,026.13 crore. Of these, four are new projects and one is a revised project. The government will pay for the projects.

The approval was given at the ECNEC meeting on Tuesday (September 22). The meeting was chaired by the President of ECNEC and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Prime Minister and the Minister of Planning participated in the ECNEC meeting through a video conference by Ganobhaban and other minister-secretaries from the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, the capital. This information was provided by the Minister of Planning at the press conference after the ECNEC meeting.

Among the approved projects is the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges project ‘Upgrading Digpait-Sarishabari-Tarakandi Highway in Jamalpur District to adequate quality and width’. It will cost 26 crore 57 lakh rupees. It will be implemented from July 2020 to December 2023.

Interior Ministry ‘Construction of 63 BGB Composite / Modern Border Observation Post (BOP) in Border Areas’ Project will cost 233 crore 52 lakh rupees. The project will be implemented from July 2020 to December 2022.

Project of the Ministry of Social Welfare ‘Establishment of 25-bed shelters in 8 government child families’. It will cost 63 crore 99 lakh rupees. The project will be implemented from July 2020 to June 2022.

Project of the Ministry of Welfare for Expatriates and Employment Abroad ‘Establishment of 40 technical training centers in 40 Upazilas and an Institute of marine technology in Chittagong (First Amendment)’. The cost is 335 crore 8 lakh rupees. The project will be implemented between January 2018 and June 2022.

Project ‘Development and Management of Hilsa Resources’ of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. It will cost 246 crore 26 lakh rupees. The project will be implemented from July 2020 to June 2024.
