Retired commander Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was shot dead by police in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. A committee formed by the Interior Ministry will present its report on September 6. A 60-page research report with 12 recommendations will be presented.

Chittagong Additional Division Commissioner Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, head of the investigation committee, told reporters at a news conference at the Hilldown Circuit House in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday afternoon. He mentioned in the briefing: “We have mentioned in the report the source of the incident. It has also been recommended that incidents of this type not occur.

Lt. Col. Mohammad Sajjad, a member of the committee at the briefing, said: “The recent assassination of retired Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan has touched our hearts and awakened our conscience. All I can say is that, as a member of law enforcement, we must uphold the law, be professional, and abide by the chain of command. Let’s not become law-eaters. May we fulfill the trust that has been established in our hands with arms. Don’t let these weapons turn us humans into monsters. I expressed my hope that no other innocent person like the elder (retired) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan would die like this in the future.

According to the report, a committee made up of the Interior Ministry has already prepared a 70-page report and four committee members have signed it. It has 600 pages of various photographs, letters, attached papers. The committee members will present the report in two parts to the Interior Ministry next Monday.

Mizanur Rahman, the head of the committee, said the investigation report was completed in 35 days with four time points. He said: ‘The investigation report has been completed. The report, compiled from research data, is about 70 pages long. The report is accompanied by recommendations on what to do to prevent these incidents from happening again in the future. Both will be presented to the Ministry of the Interior.

The head of the committee said that while investigating the untimely death of retired major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan, he had spoken with the seven people involved in the incident and accepted their statements. All the members of the commission have unanimously finalized the report after verifying, classifying and analyzing these statements and the data obtained. The report indicates why Sinha died and who was responsible for the incident.

On August 2, Cox’s Bazar Additional District Magistrate Moha in connection with the August 31 shooting death of retired Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan at Baharchhara in Teknaf. Shahjahan formed a three-member investigative committee headed by Ali. The Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police was a member. Iqbal Hossain and a GOC representative and Cox’s Bazar Area Commander of the Army’s Ramu 10 Infantry Division. But the next day, August 3, the four-member inquiry committee was reconstituted. Chittagong Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman was appointed head of the committee. Cox’s Bazar Moha Additional District Magistrate was appointed a member. Shahjahan Ali, additional inspector general of the Chittagong Range Police (DIG), said. Zakir Hossain and Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Sajjad, GOC representative and Cox’s Bazar area commander of the Ramu Army’s 10th Infantry Division.

On August 3, the investigation committee began its formal work. While the government set a seven-business-day limit for the committee to present its investigative report, the time was extended in three phases. Teknaf Police Officer-in-Charge (CO) Pradeep Kumar Das, who was fired, could not be questioned. On September 3, the investigation team questioned OC Pradeep.
