Two directors (man and woman) were suspended after a photo of an intimate moment went viral on Facebook social networks. An emergency meeting on Thursday (November 19) afternoon suspended them and formed a two-member investigative committee. Babuganj Upazila Education Officer Akbar Kabir confirmed the information on Friday (November 20) evening.
The two teachers fired are Moktar Hossain, headmaster of the Rahmatpur government primary school in Babuganj upazila. He is a resident of the Idelkathi village in the Dehergati union of the upazila. He is survived by his wife and two children. Shamima Nargis, head of the Mushurikathi government primary school in the same upazila, is a resident of Pangsha village. Their marriage ended in divorce seven years ago. She also has two children.
A two-member investigative committee has been formed headed by Upazila’s education NCO Romanch Ahmed. The other member is NCO Muhammad Monirul Haque. The committee has been asked to report within the next seven business days.
Villagers and several teachers from the two schools said that Shamima Nargis had a long love affair with principal Moktar Hossain for 14 to 15 years. Because of this, her husband began to argue with Nargis. At one point, Nargis and her husband divorced. After divorcing her husband, Nargis was pressuring her boyfriend Moktar to marry her. But Moktar was taking time to get married. Then the college students from Nargis found out and kicked her out of the house. Nargis rented a house in Kaunia, Barisal. Moktar used to go to that house. Although the two lived together, Moktar did not agree to marry in any way.
After understanding Moktar’s procrastination, some people fixed Nargis earlier this month. After Moktar arrived at his home, a group of 10/12 people entered the home at night and pressured him to get married. They were married for 15 lakh rupees. Three lakh rupees were shown there. The day after the wedding, Moktar took Nargis out of the house and went to his first wife’s house. But Nargis was unable to communicate with Moktar as he had turned off his mobile phone. Then Nargis went to Moktar’s house.
After going there, he beat his wife and two sons Nargis in Moktar’s absence. Nargis Sher-i was later admitted to the Bangla Medical College Hospital. Moktar got the news and went there. He brought Nargis home after medical assistance. After getting there, he again beat Moktar’s wife and their two children, Moktar and Nargis.
Later, Nargis was admitted to the hospital again. Four days after the marriage, Moktar sent a notice of divorce to Nargis. Nargis, who is receiving medical treatment, received a notice of divorce.
After receiving the divorce notice, Nargis returned from the hospital and again complained to some people from Babuganj Upazila against Moktar and demanded that she be granted the status of wife together with Moktar. At that time, Nargis handed over the photos of her long love affair with Moktar from her marriage certificate. Who or what left that image on Facebook through social networks is viral. Then the education officials froze.
The last meeting was held on November 13 in the presence of Moktar and Nargis in the Munshi Garage area of the city of Barisal. At the meeting, the arbitrators ordered Moktar to pay Tk 12 lakh for the divorce. And if he doesn’t read it, he tells Nargis to take him home. The referees further said that if they make more excuses about this, they will not have a job. The two have no choice but to start a family to save their jobs.
At one point, Moktar agreed to take Nargis home. It was also decided that he would stay at Nargis’s house four days a week and at his first wife’s house three days a week.
The president of the Babuganj Teachers Association, Zahidur Rahman Sikder, and the deputy general secretary Monowar Hossain, said that there was no one in the upazila who did not know their love story. What will students learn from them?
Babuganj Upazila President Imdadul Haque Dulal said: “That teacher came to me and made many complaints against Moktar. I told him they both had problems.
Babuganj Upazila education official Akbar Kabir said an investigation committee was formed after photos of the two principals went viral on Facebook. Administrative action will be taken against them after the committee presents its report.
When Shamima wanted to speak to Nargis on her mobile phone, she expressed her inability to speak. On the other hand, after hearing all the accusations against him, Moktar Hossain replied in one word: ‘We are married and we will have a family.’
